We aim for our club activities to cover different aspects related to application of Engineering Principles in Medical Science. Currently our members are working on different such aspects which allows them to both learn and apply their knowledge and intelligence on Engineering challenges relating to Medical Science. Some examples of the subjects on which we worked/are currently working on are:

1. Machine Learning

a. Our club members trained a neural network of a dataset containing pictures of x-ray, classified into two categories. Pneumonia and Normal. They also developed a web application that can make a prediction(Pneumonia or Normal) of an uploaded X-ray image using the trained model.

b. Another Machine Learning approach to detect Pneumonia from X-ray Images(Deep Learning for Detecting Pneumonia from X-ray Images): From a dataset of 20672 normal and 6012 Pneumonia X-ray images, a model was trained. The model achieved over 81% training and validation accuracy.

A dome (from Latin: domus) is an architectural element that resembles the hollow upper half of a sphere.A geodesic is defined to be a curve whose tangent vectors remain parallel if they are transported along it.


In brief, a stent is a tiny tube that your doctor can insert into a blocked passageway to keep it open. The stent restores the flow of blood or other fluids, depending on where it's placed. Stents are made of either metal or plastic. Stent grafts are larger stents used for larger arteries.


In geometry, the rhombicuboctahedron is an Archimedean solid with eight triangular and eighteen square faces. There are 24 identical vertices, with one triangle and three squares meeting at each one.The polyhedron has octahedral symmetry, like the cube and octahedron. Its dual is called the deltoidal icositetrahedron.

In brief, a syringe driver or syringe pump is a small infusion pump, used to gradually administer small amounts of fluid to a patient or for use in chemical and biomedical research.

Prosthetic feet are designed to mimic a human foot at a specific activity level. For people who cannot walk, the function is largely cosmetic.

Clamp Mini Bench Vice

An engineer's vise, also known as a metalworking vise or machinist's vise, is used to clamp metal instead of wood. It is used to hold metal when filing or cutting. It is sometimes made of cast steel or malleable cast iron, but most are made of cast iron.

A Vice is a mechanical apparatus used to secure an object to allow work to be performed on it. Vises have two parallel jaws, one fixed and the other movable, threaded in and out by a screw and lever.

Piston Pump

A piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal reciprocates with the piston. Piston pumps can be used to move liquids or compress gases. They can operate over a wide range of pressures. High pressure operation can be achieved without a strong effect on flow rate. Piston pumps can also deal with viscous media and media containing solid particles.

Robotic Arm

A robotic arm (not robotic hand) is a type of mechanical arm, usually programmable, with similar functions to a human arm that are generally used in industries. This is a 6 Axis Articulated Robot arm.

Dental Implant

A dental implant is a metal post that replaces the root portion of a missing tooth.

An artificial tooth (crown) is placed on an extension of the post (abutment) on the dental implant, giving you the look of a real tooth.

The screw has threads to allow cell regrowth and better attachment. There are two variations of the design process for the screw. And there is a Molar and a Canine Crown.

Robotic Hand

It's a fully new designed robotic hand. it can be implemented easily. Here we want to design for the skeletal of a hand which makes sure the internal movement of the hand.

The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, typically through the detection of characteristic masses or microcalcifications.

3. Online Hospital System Design which can make the communication between Patients and Doctors easier. It is an IT based work which can contribute a lot in making medical services efficient.

4. Useful Medical data extraction using Computer Vision and AI. Generally processing medical image to extract useful information. For example, count the total number of cells from a microscope image.

5. Emergency Medical response system which is designed to provide emergency medical services like an ambulance with reduced delay.

6. Computer program development to test an individual’s hearing ability.

7. Our members worked/working on some projects involving electrical circuits, logic designs and robotics.

Examples are: Acquiring biological signals, controlling motor with gyroscopic sensor (can be used to control wheelchairs or help paralyzed patients), prosthetic arm, smart wheelchair.

8. Algorithm development for convolution (using Matlab). Convolution is widely used in signal processing.

Those are some of the project based activities we worked on/currently working on.

Other than those we also hold discussions where we talk about ideas. The purpose is to share ideas, skills and knowledge. Any member can learn about his/her favorite topic by discussing it with any other person holding the same interests. Instead of organizing classes, we believe this approach of directly involving in project brainstorming and collaboration aids an individual to work on/ learn about his/her exact interests. Classes conducted by experts are organized for topics preferred by numerous members.

We aim to prepare our club members for future obstacles which they might encounter in their professional life. Situations like job interviews, board meetings, business meetings, meetings about marketing or project, and others. Through participation in our club activities, members can learn how well they perform or improve their performances.
